Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Where is the walking location? Where do we meet?

Our first meet and walk will happen at McGuire Lake Park in Salmon Arm, BC. Sessions are also conducted at other walking paths in the Shuswap. Included are directions to meet at McGuire Lake Park. We will meet at hourSpace 331 4 St NE, Salmon Arm, BC V1E 4N6. You may also call me at 250 253-5054 to confirm our meeting location.

Q: How is this different from a regular counseling session?

Many people share that the act of moving as we walk side by side helps to process areas of their life that may feel “stuck.” We will be outside and moving at a pace that you choose. Wear a pair of sensible shoes!

Q: What about bad weather?

If the weather prohibits us from walking outdoors, I have indoor alternatives for walking. After experiencing the benefits of a walk&talk session, most people are reluctant to return to an office setting for their session.

Q: How long is the Walk & Talk session?

The sessions are 60 minutes. Our first session together may be a bit longer.

Q: Typical times?

Your choice, based on availability. Some choose a session before or after work or school and/or around their lunchtime.

Q: How do I schedule an appointment?

To schedule an appointment, please click the “Schedule Appointment” button below. You can also reach Shannon by email.

Q: What is the cost of a Walk & Talk?

60 minute sessions are $110-$85 Sliding scale.

Q: What about follow up?

If you are open to it, I will write you brief notes or a letter about what we talked about within a week. These notes will remind you of your thoughts, your progress and your ideas for the way forward.

Q: What about my confidentiality?

There will have to be some level of comfort in discussing concerns in open spaces. If one of us sees somebody we know, we just casually say ‘hello’ and keep on going. We don’t slow down and people realize we are in a deep conversation. We are two people walking and talking, a normal sight in the Shuswap.

Q: what if I feel I cannot do it?

A walk & talk is for all shapes and sizes, genders and ages – from people in their teens to folks in their 80′s and beyond.

A Walk & Talk session is about you, your pace, and your comfort. The focus is on the process and not on competition or walking until exhausted.
